Construção e validação de uma tecnologia educacional para o autocuidado apoiado de crianças com diabetes mellitus tipo 1 na fase de transição da infância para a adolescência

Introduction: Children with type 1 diabetes in the transition phase from childhood to adolescence experience two transitions, related to their development and the protagonism of their care, deserving to be the focus of actions by health services. One alternative is the implementation of supported self-care, and it is necessary to guide health professionals to use this care methodology in care practice. Objective: To construct an educational technology for the supported self-care of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus in the transition phase from childhood to adolescence. Methodology: This is a methodological study carried out in three stages. The first was an analysis of the concept of supported self-care for children with type 1 diabetes mellitus in the transition phase from childhood to adolescence. Thereupon, a situational diagnosis was performed through semi-structured interviews with pre-adolescents with type 1 diabetes, caregivers and health professionals, whose data interpretation followed the inductive thematic analysis. The third stage was constructed based on two phases: construction and validation of the technology, typified as educational handbook, which was designed based on the results of the previous stages. Subsequently, the validation of the content and appearance of the handbook was performed by expert judges, using the Content Validity Index and the Appearance Validity Index. The study obtained a favorable ethical opinion for its accomplishment by means of opinion nº 3.333.154 and CAAE: 10640219.0.0000.5183. Results: The handbook was entitled “Supported self-care for preadolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus and their families: guidance handbook for health professionals”. It consists of 58 pages, which are composed of texts, diagrams, tables and 15 illustrations, in order to facilitate the understanding of the content by the target audience. The Content Validity Index of the handbook as a whole was 0.89, while the Appearance Validity Index was 0.94, an adequate agreement among the judges to consider the technology as valid. Final Considerations: The handbook can guide the planning of care through the implementation of supported self-care with preadolescents with type 1 diabetes and their relatives, favoring the protagonism of these individuals in the management of their health condition.
