Resumo: | This article analyzes police inquiries of deaths considered by the police as suicide in Guarapuava, central region of the Paraná State 1950’s. We seek to problematize the discursive constructions of the suicides, when they left letters, and of the witnesses heard in the investigation concerning self-inflicted death. These narratives about death were permeated with justifications for the act committed and we could enter into the space of what we call the "hierarchy of pain" or, what was considered a legitimate motive for extreme action. In a society of the medicalization of bodies in which the main objective is to postpone death to the maximum extent, what could explain a suicide? The narratives allow to know the social aspects that exerted pressures on the individuals and that they were shared among them and especially associated to the incapacity of realization before the social and sexual roles, which requires dialogue with the analytical category of gender. |
