In the book Autistas e os espaços escolares adaptados (Mercado de Le-tras, 2020), Ana Flávia Teodoro de M. Oliveira seeks to make education professionals aware that the adaptation of physical spaces in schools, such as the classroom, is essential for the inclusion and learning of autistic children. The book is organized into two chapters. In the first, As experiências sensoriais dos autistas e o design escolar, the author introduces the reader to the issue of special education and the barriers of the school space; in the second, A construção de espaços escolares inclusivos para estudantes autistas, Oliveira analyzes the categories of spatial organization and control of sensory stimuli. This is an important reading due to the increase in studies and research on inclusive educa-tion and, mainly, because the topic needs to be stimulated in order to promote the well-being of autistic children and their social inclusion.
