Considerações em torno do ato de estudar Paulo Freire

This article replicates the title which Paulo Freire attributed, in 1968, to a short text that preceded a set of bibliographical recommendations for a seminar: considerações em torno do ato de estudar (considerations around the act of studying). Based on these considerations, namely of an epistemological and methodological nature, the present work seeks to apply them to the study of Freire’s thought and work, using as resources the critical demands proposed by the author throughout his extensive work. Drawing the reader’s attention to several specificities of Freire’s work, the article refers to three unavoidable issues: the contexts and influences; a work made of works; the texts, the intertextualities and his idiolect, concluding that only the act of studying and debating Freire, following his own reflections on what it means to study, can free him from the law of death, that is, from oblivion.
