Para isso, realizamos três estudos. O primeiro analisou as propostas para o ensino de tabelas encontradas em livros didáticos do 1º ao 5º ano do Ensino Fundamental; o segundo analisou quais conhecimentos alunos da mesma escolaridade possuem sobre tabelas; no terceiro, analisou as aprendizagens de alunos do 2º e 5º ano, a partir de uma sequência de atividades sobre tabelas. O Estudo 1 evidencia a identificação de atividades que exploram os três diferentes tipos de representações tabulares: quadro, banco de dados e tabela. Salientamos que quadros e bancos de dados vêm sendo nomeados de tabelas, levando a uma indiferenciação entre eles. As tabelas aparecem com maior ênfase desde o 1º ano, porém há um desequilíbrio entre as habilidades exploradas, apontando uma tendência em preencher e interpretar tabelas simples, em detrimento de construir tabelas. No Estudo 2 foi realizado um teste diagnóstico, contendo questões de interpretação e construção de tabela, envolvendo variáveis diversas. Observou-se uma gradação em relação ao desempenho dos alunos, considerando a escolaridade. Eles conseguem localizar dados específicos nas tabelas, de tal modo que a maioria dos alunos localizam valores de células mínimas. Mas, poucas crianças demonstraram saber realizar tomadas de decisão. Já na construção, a partir do 2º ano, a maioria delas elabora critérios de classificação e quase todos os alunos do 5º ano construíram uma tabela simples incompleta. No Estudo 3 realizamos uma intervenção de ensino sobre tabelas, envolvendo interpretação e construição de tabelas simples e de dupla entrada. Durante os encontros, foram trabalhadas interpretações para tomada de decisão, e atividades de construção de tabelas a partir de dados brutos/bancos de dados. Os grupos que participaram da intervenção apresentaram desempenho significativamente superior aos grupos controle, evidenciando a possibilidade de aprendizagem. Eles deixaram de interpretar com base em vantagens pessoais e passaram a analisar as relações existentes entre os dados da tabela para questionar conclusões e tomar decisões. Ao construírem as tabelas, após a vivência da intervenção, os alunos registraram todos os elementos constituintes delas. As crianças do 2º ano aprenderam a construir tabelas simples. Já as do 5º ano construíram tabelas de dupla entrada. Concluímos que as propostas de atividades encontradas nos livros didáticos são limitadas e prestigiam mais um tipo de habilidade do que outro. Isso reflete, provavelmente, no trabalho do professor e, consequentemente, na aprendizagem de alunos, pois não compreendem a tabela como forma de entender e inferir sobre os dados. Entretanto, quando o ensino de tabelas é realizado de forma intencional e sistemática, podem ser verificadas evoluções significativas na aprendizagem de alunos, de maneira rápida e com reduções consistentes das dificuldades apresentadas. Assim, enfatiza-se que o ensino de tabelas precisa prestigiar propostas de atividades que levam os alunos a refletir sobre contextos reais/significativos, explorando diferentes tipos de habilidades, analisando informações como forma de tomar decisão e confrontar conclusões, além de serem capazes de construir tabelas completas.The aim of this thesis was to analyze the teaching and learning of representation in tables in the early years of elementary education, from the perspective of statistical literacy. For this objective, we carried out three studies. The first one analyzed the proposals for teaching tables found in textbooks from the 1st to the 5th grade of elementary school; The second analyzed what knowledge students at the same school level have about tables; in the third, it analyzed the learning of 2nd and 5th grade students, based on a sequence of activities for learning tables. Study 1 shows the identification of activities that explore the three different types of tabular representations: chart, database, and table. We emphasize that charts and databases have been named tables, leading to an undifferentiation between them. The tables appear with greater emphasis since the 1st grade, however, there is an imbalance between the skills explored, pointing to a tendency to fill and interpret simple tables with, to the detriment of building tables. In Study 2, a diagnostic test was carried out, containing questions of interpretation and table construction, involving different variables. There was a gradation in relation to student performance, considering schooling. They can locate specific data in the tables, in such a way that most students find minimum cell values. However, few children have demonstrated that they know how to make decisions. In construction, as of the 2nd grade, most of them develop classification criteria and almost all the 5th-grade students built a incomplete simple table. In Study 3, we carried out a teaching intervention on tables, involving interpreting and constructing simple and double-entry tables. During the meetings, we worked with interpretations for decision making, and activities of building tables from raw data and databases. The groups that participated in the intervention performed significantly better than the control groups, showing the possibility of learning. They stopped interpreting based on personal advantages and began to analyze the relationships between the data in the table to question the conclusions and to make decisions. When constructing the tables, after experiencing the intervention, the students registered all their constituent elements. Moreover, 2nd-grade children learned to build simple tables. Those of the 5th grade built double-entry tables. We concluded that the activities proposed in textbooks are limited and provide one type of skill over another. This reflects is probably reflected in the teacher's work and, consequently, in the learning of students, because they do not understand the table as a way to understand and infer the data. However, when teaching tables is done intentionally and systematically, significant developments in student learning can be seen, quickly and with consistent reductions in the difficulties presented.
