Foi desenvolvida uma pesquisa exploratória de caráter qualitativo, com vistas a atingir três objetivos específicos, sendo eles: analisar catálogos de literaturas infantis e as respectivas literaturas infantis concernentes as noções probabilísticas; discutir as características de uma literatura infantil estruturada à luz das demandas cognitivas de Bryant e Nunes (2012) sobre Probabilidade; e, investigar as compreensões dos estudantes no uso da literatura infantil articulada às demandas cognitivas de Bryant e Nunes (2012) sobre aleatoriedade, espaço amostral e comparação/quantificação de probabilidades. Os resultados sobre as análises dos catálogos das editoras, indicam que dos 175 livros que apresentaram temáticas relacionadas à matemática, apenas 2 abordam noções relacionadas à Probabilidade. A exploração documental dessas duas literaturas infantis, indicaram a presença de várias noções referentes as demandas cognitivas, entretanto, percebeu-se diversas fragilidades conceituais, que impossibilitaram seu uso no desenvolvimento dessa pesquisa. O desenvolvimento do livro infantil O Clubinho, considerou aspectos matemáticos e linguísticos, caracterizando-se como livro de histórias, com foco em conteúdos curriculares, considerando as demandas cognitivas de Bryant e Nunes (2012). Por fim, as entrevistas realizadas com estudantes do 5º ano, evidenciaram compreensões desde as mais intuitivas até as mais complexas acerca das demandas cognitivas; sobre a aleatoriedade, apresentaram compreensões adequadas sobre as noções de incerteza, justiça e equidade e os diferentes tipos de eventos aleatórios, e dificuldades com a noção de independência de eventos; sobre o espaço amostral apresentam facilidade no levantamento de resultados individuais, e dificuldades nos resultados compostos e agregados; sobre a comparação/quantificação de probabilidades, apresentaram dificuldades em calcular probabilidades, pela necessidade de aplicar o raciocínio proporcional, e maior facilidade em comparar probabilidades pela possibilidade de aplicar a relação mais/menos; e, sobre a linguagem probabilística as estudantes mobilizam diferentes linguagens, como a linguagem verbal, numérica e simbólica, e se destaca o avanço qualitativo da mobilização das expressões verbais e numéricas durante a entrevista, em que passam a aplicar de forma adequada essas expressões específicas da Probabilidade. As considerações finais desse estudo, apontam a escassez de literaturas infantis que se proponham desenvolver compreensões probabilísticas, e denunciam as fragilidades apresentadas por muitos desses recursos; aponta que o livro de histórias, O Clubinho, desenvolvido nesse estudo contribui para a exploração de noções probabilísticas em situações pertinentes ao contexto infantil e rompe com a abordagem focada apenas nos procedimentos de cálculo; e por fim, consideramos que a leitura do livro e a vivência das histórias, facilitou a mobilização de variadas noções probabilísticas ligadas as demandas cognitivas, bem como a presença das ilustrações que exploram diversos sinais para expressar ideias apoiando variadas estratégias de resolução. Portanto, defendemos que a literatura infantil permite a partilha de significados dos conceitos envolvidos, pois a oralidade dá suporte de significação aos conceitos matemáticos, sendo necessário se familiarizar com a linguagem e os símbolos para encontrar sentidos no que lê e escreve.This study aims to investigate different cognitive demands of Bryant and Nunes (2012) for the construction of the concept of Probability in the relationship between children's literature and understandings of students in the 5th year of elementary school. An exploratory qualitative research was developed, with a view to achieving three specific objectives, namely: to analyze catalogs of children's literature and the respective children's literature concerning probabilistic notions; discuss the characteristics of a children's literature structured in light of the cognitive demands of Bryant and Nunes (2012) on Probability; and, to investigate the students' understandings in the use of children's literature articulated with the cognitive demands of Bryant and Nunes (2012) on randomness, sample space and comparison/quantification of probabilities. The results on the analysis of the publishers' catalogs indicate that of the 175 books that presented themes related to mathematics, only 2 address notions related to Probability. The documental exploration of these two children's literatures indicated the presence of several notions related to cognitive demands, however, several conceptual weaknesses were noticed, which prevented its use in the development of this research. The development of the children's book O Clubinho, considered mathematical and linguistic aspects, characterizing itself as a storybook, with a focus on curricular contents, considering the cognitive demands of Bryant and Nunes (2012). Finally, the interviews carried out with 5th grade students showed understandings ranging from the most intuitive to the most complex about cognitive demands; about randomness, they presented adequate understandings about the notions of uncertainty, justice and fairness and the different types of random events, and difficulties with the notion of independence of events; about the sample space, they present ease in the survey of individual results, and difficulties in the composite and aggregated results; on the comparison/quantification of probabilities, they had difficulties in calculating probabilities, due to the need to apply proportional reasoning, and greater ease in comparing probabilities due to the possibility of applying the plus/minus ratio; and, on the probabilistic language, the students mobilize different languages, such as verbal, numerical and symbolic language, and the qualitative advance in the mobilization of verbal and numerical expressions during the interview stands out, in which they start to apply these specific expressions in an appropriate way. Probability. The final considerations of this study point out the scarcity of children's literature that propose to develop probabilistic understandings, and denounce the weaknesses presented by many of these resources; points out that the storybook, O Clubinho, developed in this study contributes to the exploration of probabilistic notions in situations relevant to the child context and breaks with the approach focused only on calculation procedures; and finally, we believe that reading the book and living the stories facilitated the mobilization of various probabilistic notions linked to cognitive demands, as well as the presence of illustrations that explore various signs to express ideas supporting various resolution strategies.
