FROM THE “DREAM OF OPPORTUNITIES” TO THE “NIRVANA OF TRUST”: ISSUES FOR A FRAMEWORK ON COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT STABILITY

Resumo: | In the era of hyper-competition, rather than simply coping with dynamic technological capabilities, firms are supposed to have relationship capabilities. Cooperation seems to emerge as an overall option for competitiveness. But a question still remains: is cooperation really cooperative? This paper intends to establish a theoretical approach to the explanation of such dilemma and to propose a framework for issues related to stable cooperation among firms. Strategic alliances and networks are the main options. The difference from one to the other will be the combination of opportunism-trust vis-à-vis techno-economic asset interdependence. |

En la era de la hipercompetencia, en lugar de trabajar solamente con las capacidades tecnológicas dinámicas, se espera que las empresas desarrollen capacidades de relación. La cooperación parece surgir como una opción general para la competitividad. Sin embargo, una cuestión permanece: ¿la cooperación es realmente cooperativa? Este trabajo tiene el objetivo de establecer una perspectiva teórica que permita explicar dicho dilema, además de proponer un modelo de cooperación estable para la empresa. Alianzas estratégicas y redes son las principales opciones. La diferencia entre ellas radica en la combinación de oportunismo-confianza frente a frente con la interdependencia del patrimonio técnico-económico (independencia-dependencia). Na era da hiper-competição, ao invés de meramente lidar com capacidades tecnológicas dinâmicas, espera-se que as empresas possuam capacidades de relacionamento. A cooperação parece surgir como uma opção geral para a competitividade. Porém, uma questão permanece: a cooperação é realmente cooperativa? Este trabalho pretende estabelecer uma abordagem teórica para a explicação deste dilema e propor um modelo de cooperação estável para a empresa. Alianças estratégicas e redes são as principais opções. A diferença entre uma e outra reside na combinação de oportunismo-confiança frente a frente com a interdependência do patrimônio técnico-econômico (independência-dependência).
