Resumo: This research project aimed at analyzing nursing knowledge production on Occupational Health originated from theses and dissertations presented at Brazilian nursing graduate programs between 1979 and 2004. Data were collected from the catalogues of the Study and Research Center in Nursing of the Brazilian Nurses Association. Results identified 140 master’s theses and 44 doctoral dissertations in this period. The production increased between 1999 and 2002, as well as the use of the qualitative approach (19.57%). In these studies, the use of phenomenology stood out as a theoretical-methodological reference framework. Most knowledge was produced through applied research directed at nursing work situations

Como resultado se identificaron 140 disertaciones de maestría y 44 tesis de doctorado en dicho período. Hubo aumento de la producción entre 1999 y 2002, y también el uso de la aproximación cualitativa (19,57%), destacándose entre los estudios el uso de la fenomenología como referencial teórico-metodológico. Os dados foram coletados nos catálogos do Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas em Enfermagem da Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem. Como resultados foram identificadas 140 dissertações de mestrado e 44 teses de doutorado no período. Houve incremento da produção entre 1999 e 2002, assim como o uso da abordagem qualitativa (19,57%) destacando-se entre os estudos o uso da fenomenologia como referencial teórico- metodológico.
