Resumo: This article will present a research project that deals with theory and practice ofportuguese language teaching - PROPEL. The group investigates, among others subjects,criterias usually used in valuation process of pupil's texts at school. It will be related anexpierence realized with two different groups: the first group consists of 42 professionalteachers of a public school at Porto Alegre/ Rio Grande do Sul; the second group is compoundof 28 scholars of the University of Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil who will be teachers very soon.The searchers have two goals with this expierence: 1º) they want to know how much linguisticsknowledge affects the process; 2º) they have interess too in knowing what kind of expectationdo the teachers have about theirs pupil productions.
