The Southern Cone between memory and forgetfulness: elements for a comparison

Resumo: This study analyzes the main measures implemented in the countries of the Southern Cone to address demands related to human rights violations practiced during the National Security Dictatorships in the region. Some elements are identified to compare the experiences of each country, such as similarities and differences in the authoritarian period, the transition to democracy and the memory policies implemented in the new democratic period.

Se identifican elementos para comparar las experiencias de cada país, observándose semejanzas y diferencias en lo que se refiere al período autoritario, a la transición a la democracia ya las políticas de memoria implementadas en el nuevo período democrático.Este artigo analisa as principais medidas implementadas nos países do Cone Sul para tratar demandas relacionadas às violações aos direitos humanos praticadas durante as Ditaduras de Segurança Nacional na região.
