Resumo: The article analyzes the trajectory of cost-student research conducted in the Brazilian context. Starting from the works produced in the 1970s and reaching the researches carried out until the end of the 2010s, the article highlights some of the methodological contributions of each study and tries to outline, briefly, the influences and motivations associated with the cost-student researches produced in the period. In addition, based on recent production on the topic, it points out possibilities for ways to be better explored by national research on educational costs.
