Resumo: This paper analyzes the participation of women in military police institutions in the Brazilian context, from a qualitative perspective. Based on a study of 41 focus groups conducted between 2013 and 2015 with female professionals from 10 Brazilian states, the text discusses the working conditions and entry of women into the military police career and the challenges they face in the process of integration into the institution. The research revealed that since women were incorporated into military police institutions, there have been advances in the sense of equating the professional career with that of the male staff, and in working conditions. However, there are still inequities regarding the possibilities of professional ascension, promotion, and occupation of command posts, as well as the prejudice, discrimination, and violence in the relationship with their male peers.

Basado en un estudio de 41 grupos focales, realizado entre 2013 y 2015 con mujeres profesionales de 10 estados brasileños, el texto discute las condiciones de trabajo y el ingreso de las mujeres a la carrera policial militar y los desafíos que enfrentan en el proceso de integración a la institución. La investigación reveló que desde que las mujeres se incorporaron a las instituciones de la policía militar, se han producido avances en el sentido de equiparar la carrera profesional con la del personal masculino y también en las condiciones de trabajo.
