Audiovisual de reconstituição histórica e construção da memória : efeitos de real e de verdade na minissérie brasileira JK (2006)

This ar cle aims to iden fy codes, conven ons and prac ces through which history is presented in audiovisual products of historical reconstruc on, as well as the types of images used in such produc ons, specifically, in miniseries for television, produced by the Rede Globo de Televisão (Brazil). We will also discuss how these images operate in the process of construc on of mnemonic discourse referred to the forma on of contemporary Brazil, repea ng senses already consolidated in society and adding new meanings to the represented period. The empirical material is the miniseries television JK by Maria Adelaide Amaral and Alcides Nogueira, released between January and March 2006. We begin by considering images as a mechanism for the representa on of reality; we thus present a pology of images used for historical reconstruc on and will relate it with their uses in this type of produc ons, exemplifying its func oning as an instrument of authen city that produces effect of truth and effect of reality in the representa on of the past in audiovisual media. Our argument is that the use of processes of produc on and manipula on of images with certain purposes contribute decisively to the produc on of verisimilitude and credibility in the historical discourse produced by the broadcaster.
