The Transclass Celebrities: a possible approach to the phenomenon

Resumo: We propose here a theoretical-methodological discussion that seeks to apply the concept of transclass subject to analyzes about celebrities. This term is related to the possibility of a person transcending their social class of origin, reaching a high socioeconomic structural position. In an attempt to carry out this discussion, we created a brief state of the art on celebrity studies based on some authors, such as França, Simões, Rojek, among others. From this, we introduce the concept of transclass subject beyond the sociological concept of ascension, as well as some possibilities of application associated with celebrities. In the end, we propose an initial analysis, based on a case study, to understand the concept applied to the singer and presenter Jojo Todynho.

Tal termo faz relação com a possibilidade de uma pessoa transcender a sua classe social de origem, alcançando um alto posto estrutural socioeconômico. Na tentativa de fazer essa discussão, criamos um breve estado da arte sobre os estudos de celebridades apoiado em alguns autores, como França, Simões, Rojek, entre outros. A partir disso, introduzimos o conceito de sujeito transclasse para além do conceito sociológico de ascensão, bem como algumas possibilidades de aplicação associada às celebridades.
