Resumo: The article discusses gender and sexuality representations available in pedagogical journals and books widely known inPorto Alegre, at the first half of the 20th century. T hese books and journals were directed towards boys and girls education, by giving advice and setting prescriptive norms abouttheir behavior and ways of conducting their future lives. My study is based on the contributions of Women's Studies, especially those derived from poststructuralist'sviews.
