Resumo: A preservação da natureza, do habitat do homem, pelo homem, é primordial à perpetuação da espécie humana, assim como o convívio do passado e o presente é primordial para a perpetuação da cultura entre os povos. Dentre as práticas adotadas no sentido da preservação de bens naturais, reconhece-se que recorrer à legislação ambiental é a forma mais direcionada e eficaz. O trabalho visa mostrar como proceder para iniciar e/ou criar um processo de tombamento de um bem natural junto a esfera federal de governo e colaborar para a conscientização popular de uma possibilidade de proteção dos bens naturais característicos da memória local.

Among the practices adopted for the preservation of natural assets, it is recognized that resorting to environmental legislation is the most direct and effective way.
