TRANSTORNO DO ESPECTRO AUTISTA E TRANSTORNO DESAFIANTE DE OPOSIÇÃO: DIFICULDADES NO DIAGNÓSTICO

Introduction: Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) are disorders commonly diagnosed in individuals in childhood. Objective: Answer the question of which factors can make it difficult to diagnose ASD and ODD, either separately or concomitantly. Methodology: Therefore, an integrative literature review was carried out, which selected articles in scientific databases. Results: Eight articles were selected for data extraction. These studies pointed out that ASD is constantly associated with other disorders (Intellectual Disability and Language Disorders), in the same way as ODD (especially ADHD and Conduct Disorder). However, there are few articles in the literature that discuss these disorders concomitantly. In addition, most studies highlight impairments in the area of communication, which is a possible trigger for the disruptive behaviors present in both disorders, which could be the subject of further studies. Conclusions: The number of studies already carried out related to the disorders mentioned above is lower than what is necessary for a better understanding of the subject. With regard to research on scientific materials, difficulties were encountered in obtaining studies that were in accordance with our research. With this, more research is needed to try to investigate and understand the reason for the scarcity of material that studies ASD and ODD concomitantly. Keywords: Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Autism.
