Resumo: In this article, we seek to remake the recent trajectory of studies on rural youth in Brazil from the analysis of works that are a reference in this field of research. We aim to discuss to what extent two founding postulates of this debate are still current: the first one, the opposition between the youth’s “individual project” and “family project”; the second, the countryside and city dichotomy, manifested in the binomial “stay or leave”. This exercise allows, on the one hand, to understand the genesis of studies on rural youth in Brazil and the transformations experienced over the last three decades in this field of research; on the other hand, it allows us to point out new paths for the study of this portion of Brazilian youth.

Pretendemos discutir en qué medida siguen vigentes dos postulados fundacionales de este debate: el primero, la oposición entre el “proyecto individual” y el “proyecto familiar” de los jóvenes; el segundo, la dicotomía campo y ciudad, se manifiesta en el binomio "quedarse o salir" del campo. Este ejercicio permite, por un lado, comprender la génesis de los estudios sobre la juventud rural en Brasil y las transformaciones experimentadas en las últimas tres décadas en este campo de estudios, por otro, señalar nuevos caminos para el estudio de esta porción de la juventud brasileña.Neste artigo, buscamos recompor a trajetória recente dos estudos sobre juventude rural no Brasil a partir da análise de trabalhos que são referência nesse campo de pesquisas. Objetivamos discutir em que medida dois postulados fundantes desse debate ainda são atuais: o primeiro, a oposição entre “projeto individual” do jovem e “projeto familiar”; o segundo, a dicotomia campo e cidade, manifesta no binômio “ficar ou sair” do campo.
