Análise da proficiência dos estudantes de Matemática em Sergipe a partir dos dados do Saeb

Large-scale assessments in Brazil have been a tool to generate important information to understand the variables that influence the Brazilian teaching process. Unlike traditional assessments applied by teachers, these evaluations are standardized and use tools such as proficiency and questionnaires. The first evaluation in this model was applied in 1990 to students of the urban public schools of Elementary School and over the years several modifications were made. Currently, the Basic Education Assessment System (SAEB) is adopted, in which Portuguese and Mathematics tests are applied. The present work intends to analyze the data generated by the Saeb in the Mathematics test to the students of the 3rd year of Sergipe High School and has as objective to quantify the reason for the student 's ability to obtain an adequate performance in the evaluation proposed by the MEC. In this study, a large gap between the profile of the students who gave the test and the students who had good results was evident. Factors such as school location, administrative dependence, shift, gender and age presented significant differences. Authorities need to appropriate this data to deploy a set of actions to reduce regional inequalities and provide quality education for all.
