Indicadores de qualidade em terapia nutricional enteral em idosos internados no Hospital Universitário de Lagarto-SE

Introduction: Indicators are parameters that express satisfactory or unsatisfactory responses to the effectiveness of a procedure. It is appropriate and prudent to use the indicators to monitor the results of the planned Enteral Nutritional Therapy (NER), and complying with specific protocols. The use of indicators that evaluate the quality of the prescribed and infused enteral nutrition is able to identify possible difficulties and errors related to the nutritional support offered to the patient. Objective: To evaluate the indicators of quality in enteral nutritional therapy in the elderly hospitalized at the University Hospital of Lizard-SE. Material and Method: Cross-sectional study at the University Hospital of Lagarto between November 2017 and February 2018. Sample of 43 patients. Inclusion criteria: use of enteral nutritional therapy, both sexes, from 60 years of age on the green, yellow, red wings and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and to accept voluntary participation in the research. Exclusion criteria: Pediatric patients, amputees or patients without enteral nutritional therapy. Data were tabulated and expressed by relative and absolute frequency. Result: A high incidence of probe obstruction was found in 48.8% (21). Discussion: The probe obstruction is due to not performing periodic washing of the probe, causing a greater accumulation of residues. Conclusion: Quality indicators in enteral nutritional therapy used in the elderly are relevant and the training of all the health team for its monitoring contributes to adequate joint decision making regarding patient care.
