Comportamento informacional por usuários de uma biblioteca prisional: um estudo descritivo

Considering the importance of studies on the information behavior and its theoretical integration - practice in the field of information science, in different contexts and applied to various types of users, and the latter may have information needs of their own, this work presents general objective is to analyze the search behavior of information for users of mobile library of Complexo Penitenciário Advogado Antônio Jacinto Filho. Constitute specific objectives: to outline the informational profile of inmates as users of information; raise the information typology used by them and how to obtain information and identify the sources of information considered essential; contextualize the prison complex library on search behavior information of convicts; verify the information search strategies adopted by convicts. We used a descriptive methodology, and the data were collected through a questionnaire administered to a sample of 30 users who use the library. It was found that most users have not finished elementary school and seek and use with frequênca the information in the library, also considering these activities very important. The book was considered the most used material, and this, along with the newspapers, are the sources of information despised by them. The way to obtain the documents they need is done mostly through bibliographic survey conducted by library staff and on the other hand, when they find the desired information, prefer to use friends who do not use the library. We hope this work will bring significant contributions to the research area Information Society and giving rise to further discussion on the subject.
