Resumo: | The day-to-day leadership role in public administration is of great relevance in public organizations operating directly in the execution of strategies and planning in diverse ways and to have diverse effects in the work in team; a leader must be able to deal with people and operational problems by always looking for the best problem solving by working in a group with their collaborators. Therefore, the present study aims to evaluate leadership styles in the institutional sectors of the Federal University of Sergipe, identifying the leadership profile of UFS managers, and their challenges in their everyday activities. For that, this study had as methodology the descriptive research with qualitative approach, applying a semi structured interview. The results showed that when it comes to discussing leadership in organizations there is a range of interpretations and theories that denote a series of techniques that measure the competence of a good leader. It has been identified that the main leadership profile in UFS is democratic, which encourages employees to participate and make decisions together, but this form of leadership can be slow and generate communication problems, being one of the main challenges posed by leaders, besides the workload and disorganization of the public system |

Sendo assim, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo avaliar os estilos de liderança nos setores institucionais da Universidade Federal de Sergipe, identificando o perfil de liderança dos gestores da UFS, e os seus desafios em suas atividades corriqueiras. Para tanto, este estudo teve como metodologia a pesquisa descritiva com abordagem qualitativa, aplicando entrevista semi estruturada. Os resultados encontrados evidenciaram que, quando se trata de discorrer acerca da liderança nas organizações há um leque de interpretações e teorias que denotam uma série de técnicas que mensuram a competência de um bom líder.
