In an increasingly connected society, new technologies emerge that tend to impact the various areas of knowledge, social and cultural. In this context, the Internet of Things (IoT) emerges, with the premise of interconnecting intelligent things / devices to a network, where such devices have autonomy in making decisions, organizing information and making it possible to narrow the relationship between man and machine. As a research problem: what is the perception of librarians regarding the preparation of Brazilian university libraries for the use of resources coming from IoT? Thus, as a general objective, the research aims to verify the perception of librarians in relation to the use and implementation of IoT in Brazilian university libraries and, as specific objectives, aims to: verify the knowledge that librarians working in university libraries have regarding the IoT; To verify the necessary infrastructure of universities for IoT implementation, to preliminarily raise the possible applications and tools of IoT for use in libraries, and finally to identify the participation of Brazilian universities in national committees. The methodology used consisted of literature review, using both formal and informal communication channels. A questionnaire was also used as an instrument for data collection. It can be considered that IoT is at an early stage about university libraries and the light of Information Science, which allows for greater engagement. IoT contributions to university libraries tend to improve libraries' products and services, information retrieval, information exchange, and the dissemination of information.
