Estudo retrospectivo de linfomas atendidos no Centro de Oncologia do Estado de Sergipe

Hematologic malignancies had their increased prevalence in the last 20 years. Among them we can mention in particular non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, corresponding to 4% of all human malignancies. According to reports, the number of diagnoses made early and the aging population are some factors that contribute to this effect. Lymphomas are lymphoproliferative disorders characterized by clonal proliferation of malignant lymphocytes or their precursors, origin and development variables. They are classified into two large groups according to the histological type of Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL). This study evaluated the number of Hodgkin lymphoma cases and non-Hodgkin lymphoma in adults undergoing chemotherapy in a cancer center in the state of Sergipe. An observational retrospective descriptive study was conducted from January to December 2012, using the collection of 83 medical records data, and of these 37 cases with lymphoma; two of the records showed no descriptive diagnosis in this period. Lymphomas, 30 cases were observed in NHL (36%) and seven LH (8%). Stratification by subtypes of LH, six were of the classical type without descriptive classification and nodular sclerosis. Of NHL, 18 (60%) were of the diffuse large B-cell subtype; two anaplastic; a mantle cell; one lymphoblastic; a marginal zone; a small cell; a Burkitt; four follicular lymphoma without subtype classification. For diagnosis, tissue biopsy and immunohistochemistry were performed in cases of HL and NHL. The chemotherapy protocol used in LH was ABVD (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine). Of 30 cases of NHL nine received R-CHOP (rituximab, vincristine, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, prednisone); one patient received CHOP; four received CVP (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, prednisone); four received CVP plus rituximab; a patient, only dexamethasone; the other received other protocol combinations. The use of a classification system neoplasms, it is of utmost importance in the diagnosis; It aims to characterize different categories of disease, cytogenetic and molecular level in order to ensure better health care in defining the prognosis indicative of therapeutic treatment and clinical outcome.
