The present job approaches studies involving the premise that the E-Books are little used by the users raising the following research problem: how is the formation of the collection of E-Books in the SIBI/UFS, as well as the forms of acquisition, maintenance and dissemination of the collection? Do the librarians who serve at the reference service indicate this support when they perform or assist the bibliographic searches for the users or even when they indicate the sources of information? Through such questions, this research has the general objective of verifying how the formation of the collection of E-Books in SIBI / UFS and, having specific objectives: a) to verify how the selection process for the acquisition of this support is carried out; b) to map the use of E-Books in the context of the different areas of knowledge served by SIBI / UFS, using, for this, the reports of the collection management software, Pergamum; c) identify how the maintenance of the collection of E-Books takes place, considering the growth and balance of this information medium in the areas of the institution; and, d) examine the role of the librarian in relation to the indication of E-Books in the service of reference service. The proposed methodology is characterized as exploratory and descriptive of quantitative quantification, having as a collection instrument the questionnaire. The results allowed us to delineate how the databases are acquired and to point out the advantages and disadvantages of E-books, as well as the level of satisfaction in the service, the lack of knowledge of the services and the disclosure of the databases
