Formação de usuários em bibliotecas universitárias : um estudo descritivo no Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (SIBI/UFS)

This research aimed to identify and characterize the activities aimed at training users developed by SIBI/UFS. This study is characterized as a descriptive research, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. For data collection, the instrument used was the application of a questionnaire through the google docs tool, with 10 closed (multiple choice) and open questions, whose themes were the participation of information professionals from the libraries of BICEN, BICAL, BILAG and BISAU. The results presented the main activities of SIBI/UFS, its frequency, the main challenges faced by professionals in the planning and execution of user education activities. For that, the following activities were identified: capacity building of Portal CAPES, awareness campaigns for preservation and conservation of the collection, exhibition of books, indications of literary works, reception of freshmen, course of standardization of academic works by ABNT, research assistance; database training, lectures on plagiarism, exhibits, educational posts against fake news. Among the main challenges found in the research is the importance of creating ways to attract the user's attention, the lack of financial resources, the need for improvements in structure and technology, the need to standardize activities in the pedagogical plan, technology barriers, even the need for more professionals in some libraries. It is concluded that the main challenges faced by librarians, when talking about the planning and execution of activities related to user education, are associated with problems with the use of technology and the concern with efficient means of communication of the activities performed for the user.
