Resumo: Introduction: Intestinal Inflammatory Disease is a chronic disease that causes inflammations and ulcers in the mucosa, especially not the intestinal tract. Recently, the Ministry of Health has produced a National List of Medicinal Plants of Interest in SUS, with 71 medicinal plants, for oriental studies that may help in the safer choice for a population, highlighting two with an effect on intestinal inflammation. Objective: To evaluate if there is evidence supporting the use of Punica granatum and Curcuma longa (turmeric) in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. The use of descriptors: intestinal inflammation, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, Punica granatum, Curcuma longa and included between 2006-2016, studies with animals And animals, and excluding review studies. Results: Sixteen articles were selected: 6 on the effect of pomegranate (SINGH, JAGGI, SINGH, 2009, ROSILLO et al., 2012, MARÍN et al., 2013, SHAH et al., 2016; In this study, the use of a saffron-like soil was determined by the use of the soil as a source of soil moisture, Mogadishu et al., 2013, SINGLA et al., 2014, LANG et al., 2015, MCFADDEN et al., 2015, COONEY et al., 2016, BASTAKI et al., 2016) in inflammatory bowel disease. These plants were not treated with animals, presenting intestinal anti-inflammatory activity, inhibiting inflammatory mediators involved with these diseases, reducing symptoms and prolonging the period of remission. Conclusion: This study shows that there is an effect of pomegranate and saffron on intestinal inflammation due to the use of the plant or extract, but it needs more studies for humans to prove more indicated doses and the time of use that favors Remission of intestinal inflammation.
