The present work is a study on the importance of including the public library in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals achieved in the 2030 agenda by the UN. The general objective is to map the actions developed in public libraries in the State of Sergipe, being necessary to present the role of public libraries in favor of a sustainable world, identify the actions developed by public libraries in Sergipe and correlate with 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Through an exploratory and descriptive research, an interview was carried out with the coordinator of the Public Libraries System of Sergipe about the support of projects aimed at libraries in Sergipe, and a questionnaire with open and closed questions was conducted with the Epifânio Dória Municipal Public Library, in Poço Verde and the Municipal Public Library Ivone de Menezes, in Aracaju, on its actions carried out. It was evidenced that in these places there is knowledge of the 2030 Agenda through actions that aim to create a space for awareness of the preservation of the environment from the use of recyclable material, creation of reading groups to discuss sustainability themes and collaborations with the community for the project development. It is concluded that although libraries in Sergipe lead the role of transforming spaces in favor of a sustainable world, guidelines are still needed to strengthen the knowledge of librarians through training together with associations in the area.
