Resumo: Every year, millions of people around the world lose their lives or suffer injuries due to traffic accidents. This worrying situation becomes even more alarming when we focus on accidents involving motorcycles, which are responsible for 23% of global traffic deaths, and more than half of them occur in countries where motorcycles dominate as a means of transport. We aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile of soft tissue injuries on the face of patients who were victims of motorcycle accidents. Therefore, the study consisted of a sample of 53 patients evaluated by those on duty in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, thus recording all information regarding the circumstances of the accident and soft tissue injuries related to facial trauma in the collection form. of data, including the type of injury and the detailed topographic description of the affected region. Therefore, a prospective, cross-sectional and observational research was developed, with the purpose of analyzing traumas in patients admitted to the emergency room and/or admitted to the outpatient clinics and infirmary of the Hospital de Urgência de Sergipe (HUSE). A higher prevalence was found in males, with around 46 (86.8%) accident patients. The most affected age group was between 20 and 40 years old. Regarding education, around 34% had incomplete primary education. Regarding the driver's license, around only 13.2% were qualified for the motorcycle category (type A). The majority - 33 (62.3%) - of the patients did not use safety equipment, the helmet, and among those who did use it, around 12 (60%) used the open type. Furthermore, 25 (47.2%) patients reported having drunk alcohol before the accident. In conclusion, the sociodemographic profile of the sample reveals a majority of men between 20 and 40 years of age, with low education, not qualified, did not use helmets and had consumed alcoholic beverages. The most common injuries are abrasions and edema. It is important to note that the lack of helmet use is associated with more frequent injuries in the frontal, orbital and oral areas, while victims who were under the influence of alcohol did not change the types of injuries, with abrasions and edema remaining predominant.
