Resumo: Regular physical activity practices are important components when it comes to the well-being and general health status of populations. Street running is one of the most popular sports worldwide due to its accessibility, low cost, and its simple way of being practiced, when compared to other sports. The incidence of lower limb injuries related to street running is prevalently high regardless of the population of runners. In Brazil, about 36.5% of amateur street runners have already suffered some type of injury. In this sense, the general objective of this study is to determine the self-reported frequency of injuries in the main regions of the lower limbs in recreational street runners in the state of Sergipe. As specific objectives are pointed out: to associate with sex, age, body mass index (BMI), time of practice and weekly distance run. The population of this study was composed of 152 recreational street runners of both genders, with a mean age of 38.96 ± 8.75 years. The statistical analyses were performed through descriptive analysis that was presented as median, mean, standard deviation, absolute and relative values, calculated through the frequencies of the sample and represented in distribution tables, the chi-square test and the binominal logistic regression test were performed to verify the factors related to the outcome. As main results are highlighted: 69.07% (n=105) of the street runners reported that they had already suffered one or more injuries, of these 54.2% (n=57) were female, when questioned in which competition level they were 65.8% (n=100) declared themselves intermediate runners and the main location of the injuries was the knee with 24% of incidence. It was also observed that only the covariate weekly distance run has influence on the variable incidence of injury (OR = 2.38; 95%CI = 1.31; 5.49). Given the results found, we conclude that the weekly distance traveled is a predictor for the variable injury.

Given the results found, we conclude that the weekly distance traveled is a predictor for the variable injury.
