Breadfruit is a tree originating from Southern Pacific, specifically Malaysia, its fruit is rich source of carbohydrates and vitamins and this can be seen several applications for the same. It aimed to carry out a survey based on the patent search, from that, to give an overview about the technological and scientific development related to the use of breadfruit. The survey was carried out in the Bank of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the database of the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil. The results of the research showed that the development of patents on breadfruit has been growing in the last three years. The primary storage area is the human needs, with the class A, and the subclass A61K presented a higher number of applications. a very small number of existing patents in these two bases, found only 25 results and with the main deficiency INPI with only two deposits was observed.
