Resumo: This work analyzes the nuances of racism in history teaching based on the Guides of the National Textbook Program approved between 2002 and 2020. From this, we seek to analyze the importance of history teaching and the category of racism in order to become aware of the possible advances related to Law 10.639/2003, which amended the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education, making the teaching of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture mandatory at Elementary and High School levels. This law emerged from the need to repair, from the educational environment, a demand of Brazilian society: racism. As a result, this work presents a series of reflections about Brazilian education and the teaching of history, as well as indicating the teaching structure as responsible for racism in the educational space.

Lei esta que surgiu a partir da necessidadede reparar, a partir do âmbito educacional, uma demanda da sociedade brasileira: o racismo.
