Resumo: | Women have notably been erased from political, economic, and human social evolution. This end of course work intends to observe the historical processes, from colonization to globalization, which intensified the exploitation of women’s work and the consequences they suffered. Since the formation of the patriarchal and capitalist society, housework and family care were intended for women, as they are understood as a natural feminine attribute. Thus, this work starts with the perspective of feminist authors Carole Pateman, Heleieth Saffioti and others, about the separation of the public and private spheres, which was the starting point for the invisibility of women as a global, political and economic actor, addressed by Nancy Fraser and Cynthia Enloe. This approach will be followed by a decolonial analysis from the authors María Lugones and Lélia Gonzalez, the subjugation of women, categorized by gender, race, ethnicity, and nationality, which increase the economic abuses experienced over the centuries. The second chapter addresses the necessity of female presence in the labor market after the advent of globalization. Women are given the most precarious, vulnerable, and lowest-paid jobs in all economic sectors. When observing, in particular, the service sector, it is clear that women from the countries of the Global South, racialized and from the marginalized economic classes, carry the burden of the economy of their countries and the countries of the Global North. With the “care crisis” in the major countries, the Global Care Chains were created, which consists in the feminization process of the international migration through the formation of migratory corridors between them and the peripheral countries, to supply the realization of domestic and care work, which were no longer be done by women from the Global North who went to the formal labor market. Furthermore, the particularities of this “women’s work” are pointed out, which branches in reproductive and effective work. The authors Silvia Federici, Arlie Hochschild, Cristina Carrasco Bengoa and Encarnación Gutiérrez-Rodríguez are the principal exponents addressed in this chapter. Finally, the migratory corridor formed between Ecuador and Spain will be used as an exemplary model to verify the concepts worked by feminist and decolonial theories, with the observation of the leading causes and consequences of this chain, the relationship between countries, transnational families, sending remittances and changes over time. |
