Regard the profound and constant influence of technology and science in modern society, the twentieth century have seen the development of intense debates about the nature and function of contemporary science. Through these discussions, the sociology of science has excelled and grew in importance in the intellectual scene in the last decades. The purpose of this paper is to present of one of its main authors: Bruno Latour, and his contributions in this field. At first we present a brief history of the emergence and evolution of the sociology of science as an organized discipline. Following, there is a presentation of Bruno Latour’s science theory, through two of his early works: Laboratory Life and Science in Action. Finally, we present the maturing of the actor-network theory by analyzing his later works of sociology of science.
