The activities related to natural resource management and the recognition of local cultural identity have proved exceptionally important in this globalized world. This, encourages the appreciation of the oldway of life and the rise of new socio-economic functions and environmental conditions in rural areas. In this context, various modalities are emerging in tourism and one of them is rural tourism, seeking closer ties between man and the environment. This article was written as documentary research and participatory visits of the investigated object as methodology, Lyra’s farm, located in the valley of Cotinguiba in Riachuelo City, 25 km from the capital of Sergipe. The director was open to the inclusion of rural tourism, he has actually done on the property, some field research with students from the Federal Institute from Sergipe, because he is a professor at the institute. It can also be taught environmental education in the forest reserve. We conclude that rural tourism is a practice that can generate local development, if well planned. Along with the existence of historical attractions, the property has great potential to be worked by local entrepreneurs, potential investors and researchers in the field of tourism.
