This research has proposed checking possible human occupation in the past, focusing on the study of Dom Helder Shelter, situated at Fazenda Mundo Novo (New World Farm), a rural region of Canindé of San Francisco in the state of Sergipe. Besides the archaeological site Dom Helder, there are other archaeological sites registered around Fazenda Mundo Novo (New World Farm). The representations in rock shelters all around, indicate that the study area was the scene of pre-colonial occupations, therefore it becomes necessary to open space for reflections and discussions about the oncepts and practices of archeology, in an attempt to understand the cultural process that runs through timelines. Thus, the shelter site under rock may have given way to man of the past not only representations on rocks, but also with the possibility of being occupied as housing.
