Papel dos agentes comunitários de saúde do município de Simão Dias - SE na promoção do uso racional de medicamentos: diagnóstico e intervenções

Introduction: Being the Community Health Agent (ACS) plays a key role in the link between the health service and the community. Trained, they are able to clarify doubts to users about the Rational Use of Medications (URM) and help in adherence to treatment. Objectives: To qualify the ACS of the municipality of Simão Dias / SE, to promote the URM. Methodology: This is a descriptive study about the knowledge of the ACS about the URM. The study was carried out between November 2017 and February 2018. The research was carried out in four stages: 1ª characterization of ACS with the participation of 68 Agents; 2ª ACS knowledge check regarding drug use participated in this stage 31 ACS before and after the course, 3ª educational interventions with ACS and 4ª to assess the impact of interventions on the level of knowledge of ACS. Data analysis was performed through descriptive statistics, in the form of tables and absolute and percentage numbers. Results: the majority of CHWs were female (81%), age between 31-40 years old (49%), High School (38%) and Superior High School (37%). Considering that (74%) never attended a course on medicines and (85%) felt the need to do so. The most frequently cited source of information on medications was the package leaflet (87%) and nurses were the ones who frequently answered questions about ACS more frequently (72%). The most doubted users are the elderly (88%) and the main one: time to take the medications (82%). The main problem identified was: user using medication at wrong time (81%). Regarding the ACS's opinion on passing guidelines on the URM in the community, (37%) consider important action and (54%) agree important, but needs training. Most ACS, before the course, had a good level of knowledge, since (48%) scored between 11 and 15 questions. After participating in the training, almost all the questions had their assertive indexes increased, the only exception being the question of drug storage. Conclusion: It is observed in this study that the ACS when passing information about the URM in the home visits do not feel safe because they do not have sufficient knowledge. Need to include in processes of permanent education. It is suggested that managers and health professionals develop a permanent education program together with the ESF, in order to promote the URM in the community.
