Revisitando o programa dos CIEP, após 38 anos: debates na câmara municipal de Nova Iguaçu (RJ) sobre sua construção e financiamento

This article addresses the arrival of the Integrated Public Education Centers (CIEP) in Nova Iguaçu-RJ, seeking to problematize the pedagogical aspects of such an educational policy in the local society. Starting from the time frame of this policy (1983 to 1995) we used, methodologically, document analysis of sources such as the minutes of the City Council; reports published in newspapers and interviews with CIEP professionals and residents of the municipality. We also used a theoretical framework based on the concepts of field (Bourdieu), citizenship (Demo) and local history (Cavalcanti), which made it possible to perceive the recurrence of debates about the pedagogical aspect of CIEP in the sources, resulting in evidence of a process of constituting a pedagogical conception elaborated by the “possessed” of the political field – idealizers and councilors –, but under the influence of the “profane” – the target public of the policy.
