The paradoxes of reason in tasks of university research and teaching

Resumo: This article proposes a reflection on the challenge of overcoming the paradoxes of modern reason regarding the tasks ofuniversity research and teaching, based on the changes in students’ profile. The study adopts empirical data, obtained throughsystematic measurement conducted since 2013 through a questionnaire responded by undergraduate students of social work of theUniversidad de la República, Uruguay. The study considers the historical statements about contradictions of reason, exemplified by theapproaches of the critical theory, recovering the emancipatory sense of questioning thought of technocratic models and the rehabilitationof conservative impulses in university education, in a moment marked by the superficiality of the professional education.

El trabajo busca poner en consideración los históricos señalamientos sobre contradicciones de la razón ilustrada a partir de los planteamientos de la teoría crítica, recuperando el sentido emancipatorio de un pensamiento cuestionador de los modelos tecnocráticos y de la rehabilitación de los impulsos conservadores en la educación universitaria, en tiempos asediados por la liviandad de los aprendizajes profesionales.A partir de dados empíricos resultantes da investigação sobre a mudança no perfil dos estudantes universitários no Uruguai,o artigo propõe uma reflexão sobre o desafio de superação dos paradoxos da razão moderna em relação às tarefas de investigação e ensinouniversitário. O trabalho foi desenvolvido por meio de mensuração sistemática executada desde 2013, através de um questionáriorespondido por alunos de graduação em Serviço Social da Universidad de la República.
