Resumo: Resistance and collective action are characteristic of the social movements organized by women in Latin America since the 1970s, even though many of the arrangements of this process have reached high visibility only in recent years. When their communities were subjected to the destructive power of capitalism, patriarchy and environment degradation, latin-american women came together and, through efforts translated into collective action for the transformation of daily social and reproductive work, brought about a new definition of politics and democratization. In this particular context of space, time, life and human body aligned in the same perspective, the concept of commonality arose and, with it, the adoption of organizational practices based on horizontality. The activism of these women, as presented in this article, is an important force for social change in Latin America and an inspiration for feminists and other movements around the world.
