Health and environment, both issues widely debated nowadays, were for a long time looked upon from a reductionist point of view, through the eyes of the Cartesian-Newtonian paradigm, which leaves aside the complexity of each one and the inter-relationship between both. This study aims to investigate the human health impacts from the socio-environmental degradation and to interrelate the health and the environment basing on the transdisciplinary holistic view. This is a theoretical and bibliographic study that uses the qualitative and the quantitative method and the exploratory approach. From the perspective of the transdisciplinary holistic paradigm, health and environment are conceived in their multidimensional complexity and inter-relationship. Health, in this approach, means the harmony between the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual dimensions, since the conditions of being healthy are intrinsically linked to the socioeconomic and environmental areas in which the human is set on.
