Being a revolutionary woman and a woman writer in the southern cone during the past dictatorial governments – the gender in the literature

Resumo: We examine the multiple conditions experienced by women writers in a predominantly male work field, their conflicts and problems by being monitored and censored by a dictatorship. At the same time, that was a period of widespread dissemination of feminist theories and of a strong international recognition of Latin American literature. We investigate the life and work of some women writers from the Southern Cone who suffered setbacks as a result from the civil-military dictatorships, because of their novels written at the time or afterwards, that had the dictatorships as their theme, and presented some testimonies and interviews.

Al mismo tiempo, ese fue un período de amplia difusión de las teorías feministas y un sólido reconocimiento internacional de la literatura latinoamericana. Investigamos la vida y obra de algunas escritoras del Cono Sur que sufrieron reveses como resultado de las dictaduras cívico-militares a partir de sus novelas escritas en la época o posteriormente, que tenían como tema las dictaduras, algunos testimonios y entrevistas.Examinamos múltiplas condições vivenciadas pelas escritoras num campo de trabalho preponderantemente masculino, seus conflitos e problemas por serem vigiadas e censuradas pelos governos ditatoriais. Ao mesmo tempo, aquele foi um período de ampla divulgação das teorias feministas e do acentuado reconhecimento internacional da literatura latino-americana.
