Childhood, consumption and education: connections and dialogues

Resumo: The growing process of industrialization and commercialization has embroiled the consumerist logic in different social groups including even children, since the discovery of its potential consumer awakened commercial interests in various segments. From this context, this paper supported on a theoretical study in which bibliographic and documentary analysis would establish connections between the triad: childhood, consumption and education, by seeking to reflect and talk about this relationship in today's contemporary society. At first we intend to know the evolution of the concept of childhood over time, their cultural historical context, as well as to understand this concept today. Later we will present considerations about the dilemmas of contemporary childhood and observations about the influence of consumer culture, and further on we will seek opportunities in education paths for understanding and reflecting upon the analysis of consumerist logic. Perspectives brought to light by this study suggest that thinking and rethinking childhood in the consumer culture must become axis of the major themes in school’s education process, because education can provide mediation to foster an analytical and reflective look forward to the consumerist logic, stimulating, thus, significant changes in children's behavior as consumers.

A partir de este contexto, este trabajo apoyado en un estudio teórico de análisis bibliográfico y documental pretende establecer conexiones entre la tríada: infancia, consumo y educación, tratando de reflexionar y hablar sobre esta relación en la sociedad contemporánea de hoy. Al principio, pretenderemos conocer la evolución del concepto de la infancia a través del tiempo, su contexto histórico cultural y entender este concepto hoy. Seguidamente, se presentarán consideraciones sobre los dilemas de la infancia y observaciones acerca de la influencia de la cultura de consumo contemporánea, para finalmente buscar en la Educación oportunidades y caminos para la comprensión y el análisis reflexivo de la lógica consumista. Las perspectivas traídas en este estudio sugieren que pensar y repensar la infancia en la cultura de consumo debe convertirse en eje de temas en el proceso de la educación escolar, ya que la educación puede proporcionar la mediación para fomentar una mirada analítica y reflexiva hacia adelante a la lógica consumista, estimulando por lo tanto, los cambios significativos en el comportamiento de los niños como consumidores.O crescente processo de industrialização e comercialização tem enredado a lógica consumista em diversos grupos da sociedade incluindo-se até mesmo as crianças, uma vez que a descoberta de seu potencial consumidor despertou interesses comerciais em diversos segmentos. Partindo deste contexto, este artigo apoiado em um estudo teórico com análises bibliográficas e documentais pretende estabelecer conexões entre a tríade: infância, consumo e educação, buscando refletir e dialogar sobre esta relação na atual sociedade contemporânea. No primeiro momento pretenderemos conhecer a evolução do conceito de infância ao longo do tempo, seu contexto histórico cultural, bem como compreender esta concepção na atualidade. Em seguida serão apresentadas considerações sobre os dilemas da infância contemporânea e observações sobre a influência da cultura de consumo, por fim buscaremos na Educação caminhos e possibilidades para compreensão e análise reflexiva da lógica consumista.
