Concepts of culture and languages in historiography: an interdisciplinary debate

Resumo: This article aims to problematize the notions of culture and languages in the interior of contemporary historiography, from an interdisciplinary approach. For that reason, two moments are proposed: first, by analyzing the appropriation of the concept of culture operated by the New Cultural History, identifying its limits and weights; secondly, by proposing a possible path to the debate in the core of humanities from the notion of languages collected in cultural and post-structuralism studies. Finally, it is recognized the importance of structuralistic and economistic models in the mid-twentieth century, but it is evaluated that the New Cultural History seems to have the most appropriate tools to analyze the problems emerged in the contemporary age.

Para ésto, se proponen dos momentos: primero, analizar las apropiaciones del concepto de cultura operadas por la Nova História Cultural, identificando sus límites y ponderaciones; em segundo lugar, proponer la noción de lenguajes, tomada de los estudios culturales y posestructuralistas, como un posible camino para el debate al interior de las ciencias humanas. Por fim, es reconocida la importancia de los modelos estructuralistas y economicistas de mitad del siglo XX, pero se evalúa que la Nueva Historia Cultural parece poseer las herramientas más adecuadas para analizar los problemas contemporáneos. Este artigo tem o objetivo de problematizar as noções de cultura e linguagens no interior da historiografia contemporânea, a partir de uma abordagem interdisciplinar. Para isso, propõem-se dois momentos: primeiro, analisar as apropriações do conceito de cultura operadas pela Nova História Cultural, identificando seus limites e ponderações; segundo, propor a noção de linguagens, recolhida dos estudos culturais e pós-estruturalistas, como um possível caminho para o debate no interior das ciências humanas.
