Immaterial work: theoretical and conceptual differences

Resumo: This article did a theoretical contraposition among the ideas developed by Antonio Negri and Maurizio Lazzarato and those proposed by Andre Gorz. The objective of this confrontation was verified by the differences and the proximities of the arguments these authors develop about the “immaterial work” category. Therefore, we studied a theoretical-analytical conceptual approach presented by these respective authors on their essays. Our conclusion is that this term is surrounded by conceptual imprecision and its fundaments are differently presented among these authors.

Así, realizamos uma contraposición teórico-analítica entre las ideas desarrolladas por Antonio Negri y Maurizio Lazzarato con aquellas propuestas por André Gorz. La comparación de los textos evidencia diferencias substanciales y algunas proximidades entre los argumentos presentados por esos autores. En efecto, se evidencía la existencia de una imprecisión conceptual sobre la expresión “trabajo imaterial”. Esto impide que este término funcione como una categoría analítica de investigación en sociología del trabajo.O objetivo deste artigo é investigar se o conceito “trabalho imaterial” apresenta densidade teórica suficiente para funcionar com uma categoria de investigação nas ciências sociais.
