Resumo: Curves of dominance-diversity were made from list of species sampled in eight trails at Morro da Lagoa da Conceição, Ilha de Santa Catarina, SC. Indexes of diversity and similarity from the soil and vegetation were also calculated. The soil showed a higher diversity of species in trails bearing stratified vegetation, rich organic matter and leaf litter. In places with very humid soil and in initial stages of succession, however the diversity diminished. For arboreal ants, the diveristy did not vary with microclimatic, edaphic or vegetational changes. The arboreal ant community seems to be very different from the soil one.

The arboreal ant community seems to be very different from the soil one.A partir da lista de espécies de formigas amostradas em oito trilhas no Morro da Lagoa da Conceição, Ilha de Santa Catarina, SC, foram feitas curvas de dominância-diversidade e calculados índices de diversidade e similaridade para solo e vegetação. O solo apresentou um maior número de espécies de formigas que a vegetação, além de uma maior relação de dominância entre as espécies. As comunidades de formigas de solo, apresentaram maior diversidade de espécies nas trilhas com vegetação bem estratificada, solo rico em matérias orgânica e serrapilheria. Em locais com solo muito úmido e em locais em estágios iniciais de sucessão, a diversidade diminuiu. Para as formigas de vegetação, a diversidade de espécies não variou de acordo com as mudanças climáticas, edáficas e vegetacionais.
