Resumo: In this study, the neuroleptic effects of two compounds of Stevia rebaudiana were evaluated. Thus, Wistar adult male rats were submitted to Steviolbioside (120 and 240 mg/kg) and Isosteviol compounds (120, 160, 200 and 240 mg/kg) by i.p. injections. These substances were diluted in destilated water 9 pH and the Haloperidol (2 mg/kg), also infected i.p., used as a standarddrug for evaluate catatonic and palpebral ptosis responses. Animals submitted to Isosteviol exhibited significant catatonic and palpebral ptosis responses. It has been concluded that Isosteviol toxicity should be more investigated.

Os compostos Steviolbioside (120 e 240 mg/kg) e Isosteviol (120, 160, 200 e 240 mg/kg) foram administrados, via i.p., em ratos Wistar adultos. Os dois compostos foram diluídos em água destilada com pH 9 e o Haloperiodol (2 mg/kg), administrado também via i.p., foi utilizado como droga padrão para catatonia e ptose palpebral. Somente os animais tratados com Isosteviol exibiram ptose palpebral e catatonia de forma significativa.
