Resumo: Which are the possibilities of control over the political class exercised by the Brazilian SupremeCourt? How does this attribution help to explain its behavior? Having as subject the court as asphere of control of political actors, we systematize this attribution and map its potentialities, chal-lenges, and interactions with different competencies. We also identify contributions of strategicapproaches that can be promising for empirical development and differences from which we opendoors to formulate new theories and research designs. As a result, we argue that the control ofthe political class by the STF occurs in criminal and political dimensions and entails specific costsand incentives considering their institutional design and external actors. We also propose that theinteraction between attributions reveals novel facets of judicial behavior, highlighting potentialbargains, benefits, and retaliations between lawsuits with distinct institutional designs but similarsubject matters.
