Resumo: In this work we discuss some high school physics textbooks approaches concerning Lorentz-FitzGerald´s contraction and the relativistic objects visual appearance in the context of Special Relativity. The idea is to show that this subject is not being presented in a rigorous way, leading textbooks to serious misconceptions between to measure and to observe . When textbooks omit such distinction they can lead the reader to misunderstandings.
