Integration between Art and Science Teaching overview: quantitative and qualitative analysis

The integration between Art and Science education is a meaningful theme within the teaching area, and thus mapping its production is important. The aim of this study is then drafting an overview of published articles in Brazil and overseas from January 2000 to March 2020, about the integration between Art and Science Education. This overview was drafted from the theme categorization of a hundred Qualis A1 and A2 articles in the Teaching area and the usage of an evaluation tool, proposed by Turkka, Haataonen, and Aksela (2017), to collect numeric data. By the evaluation of the articles, we proposed a debate upon the studies provided by the researchers Edgar Morin, Charles Percy Snow, and John Dewey, who base the Art and Science Education integration on philosophical and sociological perspectives, which may contribute to a further entrenchment of this Teaching investigation. According to data from this study, the Art and Science integration is mostly mentioned in Physics (n = 39). It can also be noted a few quotes regarding Music (n = 4), Contemporary Art (n = 3) and Photography (n = 1), whereas Fine Arts (n = 6) are mostly addressed in the article. Furthermore, there is a balance between national (n = 49) and international (n = 51) content. However, some investigation issues were pointed out from the collected data, as the lack of studies that propose activities interactions, at the same time, between artistic and scientific knowledge.
